Tubes are often described by the amount of heat they can absorb, expressed in MHU. Higher capacity allows the tube to support repeated examinations.
Total patient exams
This indicates the number of cases performed with the tube. It is useful but does not fully measure real load.
Clicks or counts
This measure shows how many exposures were performed. It does not always show exposure power or duration.
Scan seconds
Scan time accounts for how long the tube is used and gives a more detailed view of operation.
mAs
Milliampere-seconds combine exposure duration and delivered energy. This is often the most useful indicator for tracking real tube usage.
Exact lifecycle is hard to predict. In practice, tracking mAs, operating conditions and maintenance history helps anticipate replacement and reduce unplanned downtime.
